A professional Director of Culinary Operations reflects culinary innovation and creativity, operations management skills, customer sensitivity, pride and merchandising impact. This effective combination creates traffic for the eventual success of the entire store.

 

DUTIES

  • Oversight and support of JWG's Prepared Foods, Bakery, Juice and Coffee and Specialty Cheese Departments
  • Development and ongoing management of all operating and food production processes, procedures and operating standards to the highest levels of quality while following industry best practices
  • Hiring, training and routine performance reviews of department management staff, including Prepared Foods, Bakery, Juice & Coffee, Cheese Managers, this includes developing and maintaining job descriptions and organizational and labor structures
  • Menu and recipe development in collaboration with Prepared Foods, Bakery, Juice & Coffee Managers, Chef's and Store Leadership
  • Quality Assurance; establishing, maintaining and verification of food and operational standards of quality as specified by management, including development, execution and routine reporting on performance of such standards
  • Promotional Management - development, planning and execution of promotions, in collaboration with Marketing, for all culinary departments.
  • -Develop and maintain outstanding employee-customer relations
  • Financial Management - P&L responsibility and accountability for all culinary departments
  • Sales responsibility and accountability, including forecasting and sales growth
  • Food Safety, Sanitation and Department Conditions - responsible and accountable for assuring best practices are developed, implemented and routinely verified

 

QUALIFICATIONS

1)Knowledge:

a)High School education or equivalent.

b)3+ years of operations management experience, with some management experience in a grocery setting.

c)Awareness of current and upcoming food trends.

2)Skills:

a)Minimum five years of culinary experience

b)Good written and oral communications

c)Delegation skills

d)Strong organizational skills

e)Computer skills - Microsoft Office Applications & ability to learn company's POS, culinary management application and other back office systems

f)Understanding and working knowledge of best practices in food production, safety and merchandising

g)Employee training

h)Strong communications skills

i)Organizational behavior knowledge

j)Financial and operations analysis skills

3)Abilities:
